Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project Reaches out to Aryan Benevolent Home with Essential Foods

Hollywoodbets kindly delivered essential food items to a total value of R42 000 to Aryan Benevolent Home (AHB) in Chatsworth, KZN. Since its inception in 1921, the home has been committed to caring for vulnerable children and elderly people who have also been affected by poverty. ABH’s mission has been to create a safe haven and a place of tranquillity for abandoned children and the elderly. However, because of the disruption caused by the coronavirus in South Africa, the non-profit has been experiencing the common issue of food insecurity because of reduced funding from privatised organisations. ABH reached out to Hollywoodbets for assistance to be able to keep their doors open so that they could continue bringing comfort and relief to the destitute during these uncertain times.

This is the second time the company has chosen to support ABH. This donation went a long way in feeding the 200 elderly people and children that ABH cares for. This donation forms part of the “Brighter Future” project that is a collaboration between the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. This initiative was put in place to help provide relief to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African provinces, and will result in R1 million being donated to those who need it most.

Mondli Mzimela, CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets in KwaZulu-Natal was honoured to be part of an incredible handover like this. “It is privilege to work for a company like Hollywoodbets that truly cares about, and looks after, the people in their surrounding communities. We hope that our donation has provided some relief during a time like this to ABH, because the centre has been a place of refuge for many disadvantaged people in the Chatsworth community for almost 100 years.”

“Here at ABH, the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our organisation has truly been extraordinary. It has been very difficult to continue caring and providing for the frail elderly people and the abandoned children we look after. But thanks to the help of Hollywoodbets, we can continue to keep our sanctuary afloat during these tough times and to keep our purpose of providing tranquillity to those who need it most alive. We are so grateful for the support Hollywoodbets has shown us and our Chatsworth community. Thank you,” said Marketing Officer of ABH, Vanessa Kish.
