This non-profit organisation is located in the community of Mogwase, just outside of Rustenburg. St. Catherina Hospice aim to take in the elderly citizens and provide them with the best possible care. They do this by giving them a place to stay and ensuring that they receive the correct health care and medication, as well as providing them with meals. Throughout the national lockdown, the centre has continued to run to ensure that all the elderly’s needs are seen to. Hollywoodbets, a leading South African bookmaker, chose to show their support by making a R12 500 donation to the hospice. These funds were used to purchase essential items that were running low for the organisation. This included tracksuits, blankets, cleaning materials, personal protective equipment and groceries.

The company recently announced that they, in collaboration with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation, will pledge R1 million towards their “Brighter Future” project. This was a relief plan that was put in place to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa will benefit from this great cause!

This is the second time that the company has shown an act of good-will towards the organisation. “We chose to once again support St. Catherina Hospice because of all the necessary work that they continue to provide to their beneficiaries during this national lockdown. They have taken on a massive responsibility and we are glad to that we are able to show our support and make their functioning a bit easier wherever we can,” said Skele Ntlatseng, Free State Area Manager for Hollywoodbets.

Director of St. Catherina Hospice, Abie Motlhabi, was grateful to Hollywoodbets for their continued support that they have shown them.

“Thanks to this donation from Hollywoodbets we can continue to assist our elderly patients at the hospice. We will be able to supply them nutritional meals with the groceries, ensure that they are kept warm in the winter with the tracksuits and blankets and make sure that they maintain a high level of hygiene especially during the COVID-19 outbreak,” she explained.
