Brighter Future Project
Hollywoodbets’ My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation united to donate R1.35 million to South Africans suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic, via their “Brighter Future” campaign. South African starlet Nomzamo Mbatha partnered with Hollywoodbets to reach out to those who truly need it. Hollywoodbets made One Million Rand available to the My Community Programme in order to bring some relief, and a brighter future to NPOs and NGOs across South Africa’s nine different provinces. This initiative provided financial support to several beneficiaries, basic hygiene items, food as well as other essentials. The Lighthouse Foundation and the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme also made a R50 000 donation to the Nelson Mandela Foundation as well as a R300 000 contribution towards the Solidarity Fund.
Ndungane Twins Foundation
Hollywoodbets partnered with the Ndungane Twins Foundation, founded and run by former Springbok players, and Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassadors, Akona and Odwa Ndungane. The foundation was created to scout for young, talented, underprivileged children and offer them opportunities that would help better their lives into the future. This will be achieved by placing beneficiaries in good schools, covering the cost of their school uniforms, boarding fees, sports gear and other essentials. The goal is to help talented young people grow by exposing them to top sports training as well as quality education.
Courtesy of Hollywoodbets’ involvement in the programme they were able to extend it to include a second young person, Liyema Lento a 16-year-old student from Mdantsane. This means that another young man will now be able to receive quality educational and sports training. At present, the twins are focussing on assisting young people in the Eastern Cape because this is where everything started for them, so this poverty-stricken province lies close to their hearts. The Ndungane brothers first joined the Hollywoodbets team in 2019 as the official Rugby Brand Ambassadors and have been seen at various Hollywoodbets events as well as making an appearance on The Phaka Show on SuperSport, powered by Hollywoodbets.
KZN Cricket Union
Hollywoodbets has invested heavily in cricket sponsorship in KwaZulu-Natal, ranging from grassroots levels, all the way to franchise and stadium sponsorship. Working together with the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union, Hollywoodbets has the naming rights to the following entities: The Hollywoodbets Dolphins (2015), the Hollywoodbets KZN Coastal and Inland Teams (2017), the Hollywoodbets KZN Coastal Women’s team (2019), and the Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Cricket Stadium (2019). Hollywoodbets is also the title-sponsor and major supporter of the Umlazi Cricket Hub, as well as a number of cricket clubs in KZN including Crusaders and Chatsworth Sporting. Hollywoodbets has also supported various community cricket clubs by giving them stadium experiences, involving transport, match tickets, #DolFANarmy shirts and meals, while also giving them the opportunity to see their cricketing heroes in action. These clubs are then also given donations to assist with cricket equipment, transport and other needs.
